What is Matt Walsh doing now?

For those who care, or even remember Matt Walsh, Matt announced today that he is leaving radio for good. We first caught wind of this about a month ago, but facts were nonexistent. The program director at WLAP in KY only said his show was being cancelled.

Just like when he was fired from WZBH, he has made his leaving sound as if it were voluntary. Three radio stations in as many years - we doubt he left voluntarily. At least this time he admits two things - one, more people read his blog than listened to his radio show (out of a national audience, he has at least 91,000 fans), and, two, he lacks any real life experience, which may account for his lackluster radio performance.

According to Alexa, Matt has a strong fan base of stay-at-home Moms, but is extremely under-represented among males, and males and females with some college or higher education. That strong fan base of stay-at-home Moms will carry him for a decent living as a blogger, but we have to wonder if maybe his tune on working Moms and the feminist movement that fought for equal pay will change. Raising twins is no cheap task and running a blog with a fan base of less than 100,000 doesn't earn one a solid middle class salary. If he and his wife have to make the decision that his wife needs to get a job, I hope he is thankful for the many generations of women who fought for equality in the workplace.

Matt is also a speaker at the Great Home School Convention, so blogging isn't his only new career. Public speaking, especially at events supported by his strong fan base of stay-at-home Moms, may be in the offering.

We know, because he would never tell anyone otherwise, that he won't be freeloading off the unemployment system like all the rest of those freeloaders so we wish him well on his blogging adventure. There's always flipping burgers to help make ends meet while he tries to get his blogging career off the ground.
For those who may have lost touch with Matt you can visit his blog.

  1. Thank God he's off the radio but now we've gotta get those stay-at-home moms to open their eyes. Matt Walsh is a special breed of Dick. His opinions that stay-at-home moms see as "truth" are going to hurt them and the kids their raising.

    1. I'm sure their home-schooled children know the difference between there, their, and they're. At least they've got that going for them, right?

  2. So, I'm over here because somehow, you found a blog post I wrote about Matt Walsh. Which is oddly flattering, since I'm basically a blogging speck. LOL! Anyway, this is like watching a bad traffic accident. I had no idea. Thanks for commenting and suggesting I check this out. I knew he was tool, but I need brain bleach after reading some of your previous posts about this guy. I'm horrified that he's getting such an audience among my acquaintances. Clearly, I know the wrong people.

Anyway, my question is, can I read more about what happened with some or all of his firings and such? Some of my friends find MW highly creepy, and I'd like to be able to reassure them they're not wrong about him.

  3. Thank you for visiting, Amy! No, we're not aware of any detailed articles explaining his employment at three different stations nor his firings. We originally started this blog to meet Matt's challenge to his listeners to "go ahead and call the station and try to get me fired." We took him up on his challenge and created this blog to document his racist, sexist, and homophobic views. He spent months ridiculing over the air one person he thought was behind this page, even naming the person by full name. What he didn't know during those months is that this page was gaining the attention of such groups as the NAACP, GLAAD, ADL, and NOW. When he was fired from WZBH and took a job at a local conservative talk radio station, we stopped our documentation of him and concentrated on his cohost, Crank, and the station, in general. There have been huge improvements at WZBH since those dark days of Matt Walsh, but there is still room for improvement. WZBH, after all, I a mainstream rock station, but is predominately represented by White, conservative, and/or Christian males so the commentary is often one-dimensional, although not as blatantly bigoted as in the past. And of course, Crank is still there despite being an accomplice to Matt's morning rants and that particularly offensive show they aired on Aug 19, 2010.

    1. Holy cow. I just finished combing through some of this stuff. Well, good for you for standing up against this bigotry and bullying. A friend just sent me another of his awful blog posts. I'd say at least it gives me something to write about, but I'd rather be out of a writing job.

  4. Can you now find a way to make him go away as a blogger, please!? His latest thoughts on Ferguson and Robin Williams are so terrible and bring nothing good or true or theological or Christlike or whatever other platform he seems to think he offers. I have no idea why people are not able to see him for what he is. Would it matter if they knew his radio history? Sadly, probably not. I knew there was something sad and pathetic about him and this interesting history confirms those suspicions.

  5. Just like his three failed radio careers in three years, Matt may have fatally wounded his blogging career with his suicide-is-choice post. There are plenty of signs that Matt may be forced to find a real job and, unfortunately for him, he has no skills or education to help him land a job with more responsibility than a burger flipper. Perhaps that is why he makes up letters about Wal-Mart employees and complains about bad customers. He sees his future and it scares him.

The sad part of it all is when Matt aired a particularly offensive show back on Aug 19, 2010, all he had to do was apologize for denigrating gays, women, and Blacks over the course of his four hour show. Instead, he chose to dare his listeners to call the station and try to get him fired, which is why we started this blog. We like to think our blog had something to do with WZBH's decision to fire him, but we'll never know for sure. After all, his cohost, Crank, is still there. What we do know is this blog will remain for every future employer - and readers of his blog like yourself - to review.

As strong proponents of free speech, we are happy Matt can hang his will-write-for-food sign on a blog instead of being forced to stand at a busy intersection with a will-work-for-food sign. You may be interested in the blog, What Is Matt Walsh Wrong About Today (http://whatismattwalshwrongabouttoday.com/). We have nothing to do with that blog, but find it refreshing to know we're not alone in our we perceive Matt and his "work".

Thank you for reading our reviews. It is encouraging when others stumble on our work and express their appreciation for what we do.

  6. You guys are awesome at career predictions! Lol

  7. Matt now makes more money than all you kids combined! Congrats on your terrible predictions. Believe it or not, there's a whole pile of people, half of America in fact, who believe in traditional judeo Christian ethics and are willing to fight for it.

  8. Yes, by our estimate, the guy with no discernible talents and a proven track record of not being able to hold down a real job, he has proven himself adept at playing the Internet numbers and earning a wage better than a burger flipper. We, however, don't hangout in the shallow end of the pool where one's success is judged by their annual income.

Today, alone, he's lost over 500 FaceBook followers. Two weeks ago, he lost almost 5,000 Twitter followers. He's since made back about three-quarters of his Twitter followers, but he faces a very real problem. He can't break the million mark like his more successful pundits have done. In other words, he's a mediocre pundit.

Like his job market flunkee turned political pundit peers, he did self publish a book. If Amazon sales stats are any indications, he did ok for a first time author, but made no big waves with the book.

So now I ask you, Unknown. Other than making (by our estimates) a bit more than median income (maybe even broke six figures last year if we're liberal with our guesstimates), what has Matt contributed that makes him a "big success?" We'd really like to know what we're missing.

  9. You seem a little obsessed and jealous. First claiming he’s gonna be a burger flipper, then saying he’s not doing so well because he’s lost some followers here or there (and gained many more since your post).
I can’t help but see your hatred towards Matt as transphobic seeing as how you’re talking about the #1 best selling author of an LGBTQIA2S+ book. You should be ashamed of your bigotry and you owe the world an apology.
